Last week's announcements from Apple about plans for iOS 4.1 and it's imminent release got everyone thinking about what's in store for iPhone owners all over the world. The free update will fix a number of bugs (including the persistent proximity sensor issues), but will also bring a whole lot of cool new features. For instance, iPhone 4 users will get to make good use of that high definition camera with iOS 4.1 loaded as well as being able to upload high def video over wifi.

Duke Nukem Forever at PAX? You bet. A playable demo of the game was onhand and reports have come in that, yeah... it's real. If you know anything about Duke Nukem Forever, you know that this is a game with a very long and not particularly glamorous history; 13 years of beleaguered development marred by several changes in technology (can you believe it all started with the Quake II engine?), financial issues, legal problems and various publishers handing it off from one to the other.

People read MacGamer all over the world, but most of our readers are taking today off and enjoying Labor Day; the holiday which is meant to... actually, I have no idea what it's meant for. It's usually a day where people have that last picnic of the year or the last campout, but weather has been a little touchy thanks to hurricane activity in North America, so I'm willing to bet most of what we've been up to today is (say it with me now) Mac gaming.

If you like scary games, Frictional Games might have the thing for you. Amnesia: The Dark Descent is due this September 8 and follows in the tradition of the Penumbra series (i.e. it'll scare the crap out of you). It's a first person game that leaves you mostly defenseless and fighting for your life. This video, without question, tells the story pretty darn well:

Ngmoco has been making their name in the iPhone world with freemium games like We Rule, Godfinger, We Farm, Eliminate and others... and details about their upcoming release, We Doodle, have been emerging. After taking a peek at Ngmoco's Twitter feed today, you'd find a link to IGN's preview of We Doodle, which is full of pictures and details about the game.

Today was a big one, folks: Apple's Steve Jobs stood in front of the world this Wednesday in his inimitable manner to let a few cats out of bags. New iPods, new Apple TV, new iTunes, and not one but two updates for iOS... to arrive on both iPad and iPhone/iPod Touch alike. Today on the stage at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center, the next generation of Apple awesome was revealed.
