I guess it had to happen sometimes, but the announcement that Blizzard will be dropping support for non-intel/PPC Macs makes me wistful. With Cataclysm coming soon (though no release date is set yet), changes and improvements are being made to the core graphics tech in WoW as well as several other modifications and... well... your old Strawberry iMac isn't invited to the party.

Blizzard continues to crank out new screenshots and info on the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, named Cataclysm. Today they take you to the realm of Azshara and walk you through some of the changes that vet players can expect. Cataclysm takes the long-established realms and zones of Warcraft and, to put it succinctly, tears them up and remakes them completely new.

There's one thing that no serious World of Warcraft player ever does, and that's type "/played". If you do, you're shown the exact number of hours, days, weeks or years that you've spent in-world playing WoW while the rest of planet Earth continued on without you. A Warcraft user named Haiksterbnh finally hit the point one day where he decided that enough was enough.
