World of Warcraft to drop support for PPC Macs

I guess it had to happen sometimes, but the announcement that Blizzard will be dropping support for non-intel/PPC Macs makes me wistful. With Cataclysm coming soon (though no release date is set yet), changes and improvements are being made to the core graphics tech in WoW as well as several other modifications and... well... your old Strawberry iMac isn't invited to the party.

WoW Cataclysm takes you to Azshara

ImageBlizzard continues to crank out new screenshots and info on the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, named Cataclysm. Today they take you to the realm of Azshara and walk you through some of the changes that vet players can expect. Blizzard to hold another Twitter chat

ImageBlizzard informed the world via their forums that there will be another one of their famous Twitter chats this Friday (July 16) at 5 PM PDT. This time around you can talk to the World of Warcraft systems design team, and the chat will focus on recently-announced talent specialization and Mastery systems for Cataclysm, the upcoming expansion for World of Warcraft. Here's a bit more...

World of Warcraft: Breaking the chains of addiction

There's one thing that no serious World of Warcraft player ever does, and that's type "/played". If you do, you're shown the exact number of hours, days, weeks or years that you've spent in-world playing WoW while the rest of planet Earth continued on without you. A Warcraft user named Haiksterbnh finally hit the point one day where he decided that enough was enough. When he did, he erased his high-level Warcraft characters and made a little Youtube video about it.

Big changes coming for the WoW class system

ImageThose of you who are eager to find out what the established Warcraft classes will do in the next big WoW expansion (named "Cataclysm"), Blizzard's laid out a lot of details... especially where specialization is concerned.

"Take to the skies, new-found friends of the Horde"

ImageBlizzard keeps showing off the screenshots to pump their upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, Cataclysm, which just went into closed beta. The expansion adds two new races to the game: Goblins and Worgen. In the latest Screenshot of the Day, we see Goblins tooling around in their ROFLcopter. The upcoming expansion not only adds more races, but also gives Azeroth a huge facelift.

Blizzard begins closed beta for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm

It's finally happening: The closed beta for World of Warcraft's upcoming expansion, Cataclysm, has begun. Rumored for a release late this year, the Cataclysm expansion changes a whole lot of what we've come to know as WoW: New class combinations, new races, and a complete facelift for the enormous realm of Azeroth that'll make veteran players' jaws drop.

The Forbes-Warcraft connection

ImageThe next time someone gives you hassles about playing too much World of Warcraft, tell them about this: Forbes magazine reports that some of the most successful young businessmen and CEOs of this generation owe their prowess to World of Warcraft.
